Let Phil Sing!
"Let Phil Sing!" we begged in the mid 1980's after too many years when Phil didn't sing. And I don't think I want to hear the word "don't" in front of that between tunes at a show! Regardless of how he sounds, I appreciate having had the pleasure of listening to him all of these years.
That said, this was my first show with this line up -- so glad to see young musicians playing with the "old timers"
Braiding the present into the future
in honor of a brilliant man. . .

say something nice
Opinions are like ass holes, everybody's got one. Nobody cares that you don't like Phils voice, true deadheads only think and say good things about anything. Think good thoughts, do good things, and usually feel pretty good. It spreads good karma, which hopefully will make it back to ya 10 fold. Worked for me lots of times. Why are you trying to spread negativity? bring people down? Truth be told I don't like several other singers voices (not Dead members), but I don't go around trying to get people "on board" spreading my diarrhea of the mouth. A simple, I'm not a fan of his voice, would be fine. Phils in his 70's! and one of the most energetic ones in the bunch! Phil sings from the heart and its beautiful to hear and feel. One thing Phil, if your reading, how bout a bass solo?? A knock it down in your face just like mace solo? just one time? pleeeeasssse? don't go changing none... As far as the recording, not pristine but who cares, i can hear it...

Selvaggio is a moron
You are a cheesy piece of garbage. If you can't stand Phil's singing, do us all a favor and stay away from the shows and Archive. Suggesting that "we" start a "don't let Phil sing" chant is one of the weakest things i've ever read on this site. Phil is THE MAN and you are NOT. He is a Rock and Roll legend and as senior member of the band, I'm quite sure he'll continue singing whenever he wants-- despite your piss ant opinions. WEAK WEAK WEAK!!!!

Please keep singing, Phil
To see Phil and Bobby at this stage in their lives is truly remarkable. I recently listened to some Dead studio rehearsals from the late '60s. Phil was just hollerin’ at the top of his lungs and adding so much to the mix. His voice is unique, like Dylan and Young, and I understand it is not appreciated by everyone. I will proudly stand up and say “Please keep singing, Phil!” (not that comments on Archive would stop you).
I’ve seen Further twice and am about to catch two nights in a row, Manchester and Portland. What a treat!!! Thanks for keeping the music alive, Phil, Bobby, and the rest of the Further crew. Looking forward to some magic just before my 40th!!!

more Phil on the vocals! MORE MORE MORE
Sorry, folks. You can't see the forest for the trees. Phil brings utter joy and true sincerity to every song he sings. Stop listening for notes and pay attention to the emotion and genuine, unbridled heartfelt pleasure he shares through his voice. Honestly, I don't see a problem with his voice on any level, but if that rarity of a singer who is deeply invested in the lyrics isn't enough, I don't know what to say to you. When he sings Eyes, he beams universal light. It is one of the more beautiful parts of a show.
Doesn't really surprise me to hear people being as disrespectful, and as ugly, to even joke about chanting "Don't let Phil sing". Doesn't make it any less fortunate, though. Please don't embarrass us. Stay home if you can't recognize a virtuoso at work and if you can't overcome your own puerile tendencies.

Tribute to Steve Jobs
Despite some occasional background chatter an excellent recording. And a well-played show, interesting jams, innovative set list, everything spot-on, (except Weir's voice which doesn't prevent him from delivering a poignant "Death don't ..).
The magic keeeps spreading!

ScarlettChina is absolutely right on about Phil's singing . . . truly awful. Mountain song and Colors of the Rain and all the Jerry tunes would sound much better with JK doing lead vocals and Sunshine and Jeff providing their wonderful back up vocals. Hearing Phil's "voice" after tasty jams in Eyes, Franklin's, St. Stephen, and so on is just painful. Maybe we should start a "Don't let Phil sing" chant at shows, the opposite of what we used to do in the 80s.
Overall, a decent (not great) recording with some audible audience chatter getting in the way. Set list is nice and performance pretty good for an end-of-tour gig.

1) Thanks TaperSteve. Pretty nice job and fast upload. Instrumental sections come across real nice (I was there). Some vocal parts not so clear.
2) The bands vocals were not in top shape on this night - too much Phil (sorry to fans, but he has no tone or tune) and Bob's voice was shot to hell (from too much touring?). Sunshine brought a LOT of strength. Why they not give more to JK? When he had a chance, he carried it well...
3) I'm worried that Furthur is getting almost too popular... 2 to 4 years ago, the fans were more the older been-on-the-bus a long time mellow crowd, this time I saw of lot of very hazed latecomers. They're welcome and I'm glad to see them 'cuz I was them once but there seemed to be a bit of a hard edge that I didn't used to see...
4) OMG, I am so critical!
5) I am soooo glad that these guys are doing what they're doing. I've been following them since 1974 and it's been a HUGE part of my life and now I'm so happy - my sons is board, on the bus, and we can go to shows like this and play the download thanks to guys like tapersteve.
6) And I don't live in Libya or Afganhistan or...
